Paying tribute to Malaysia's Father of Independence with a special exhibition at KL International Airport
Every year on 31 August, all Malaysian will come together to celebrate Malaysia's National Day and the declaration of independence 65 years ago on 31 August 1957. In conjunction with this momentous day, KL International Airport (KLIA) will be setting up a special exhibition for visitors to get up close and personal with Malaysia's First Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj.
In the exhibition, you will be among the first to view personal items from Tunku's safe box that has never been displayed publicly before. You can also experience Tunku's journey by sitting in the recreation of the former prime minister's office and his Cabinet meeting room. Also on display is a white Chevrolet with the registration number BE 52, the official car that Tunku had ridden during the 1959 elections.
Visitors to the exhibition will also be able to explore Tunku's and his wife's fashion preferences through a gallery display of their wardrobe, as well as enjoy specially curated menus by Eraman of Tunku's favourite dishes such as the Chicken Kurma and Chicken Curry. This amazing feast is available at Food Garden, Level 2, KLIA.
