Relax, find your centre, and feel refreshed at the impressive KLIA JUNGLE BOARDWALK
There’s nothing quite like a well-deserved holiday, is there – and it’s especially thrilling if it’s a destination that you’ve never experienced before. You’re all packed, filled with excitement as you head to the airport. And you get there early (wouldn’t want to miss that flight) and drop off your luggage at the counters.
With plenty of time to spare before boarding, you’ll most likely mosey over to one of the many eateries at the airport to enjoy a nice beverage and bites … or perhaps indulge in some last-minute pre-vacay shopping at the dozens of retail outlets available.
Or you may prefer to just stretch those legs … maybe do some relaxing meditation. Now imagine doing that to soothing sounds of a waterfall amidst lush greenery.
Well, you actually can!
If you’re travelling through KLIA and have heaps of time on your hands (and you’re a nature lover), you have the opportunity to experience a whole rainforest jungle – without ever stepping outside of the airport!
The KLIA Jungle Boardwalk, located at the Central Hub of Satellite Building, is a mini forest that is home to over 3,660 trees of more than 39 species. And get this – it’s beautifully complemented by a waterfall!
KLIA’s vision of creating an ‘Airport in a Forest, Forest in an Airport’ is realised through the KLIA Jungle Boardwalk, which opened in December 2009 for the benefit of international flight as well as transit passengers.
Filled with lush greenery, enhanced by the serenading sounds of the manmade waterfall, the 970m2 forest serves to enable travellers to relax and commune with nature before it’s finally time to board their flight, whilst doing so allowing them to savour a memorable and joyful experience.
Enjoy walking through the line of trees such as the Alstonia Angustiloba (tree commonly known as Pulai) and Licuala Grandis (a species of palm, commonly known as Vanuatu Fan Palm).
Along with variants of shrub, including Calathea, there’s also the towering Sterculia Foetida (Indian Almond or Kepoh) which can reach heights of up to 30 metres.
The wonderfully-maintained KLIA Jungle Boardwalk is open from 7am to 7pm daily.
Now that you’re all up to speed, enjoy the forest, find your ‘centre’, and have a peaceful, stress-free flight to your next destination!
