Malaysia Airports’ ‘Joyful Experience at KidZania’ programme proves heaps of fun through engaging interactive learning and role-play for students of SK Bukit Bangkong (A)
Experience what it’s like to be a firefighter!
Nurturing children’s curiosity can be a daunting task – ask any parent with toddlers and young ones. But it’s important to encourage children to explore and be inquisitive as this is crucial in helping them to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually – and turn them into lifelong learners.
And when the Orang Asli children of SK Bukit Bangkong (A) visited KidZania Kuala Lumpur on April 24, 2019, they were thrown into an exciting world of interactive learning and role play where they got to experience real-life occupations hands-on in a fun yet engaging setting.
SK Bukit Bangkong (A) is also one of Malaysia Airports’ adopted schools under its Beyond Borders Programme. As one of its adopted schools, Malaysia Airports is truly invested to see them succeed. While work is done at the school setting to aid in English literacy and knowledge, the trip to KidZania is another opportunity in allowing the students to explore their curiosity on the many possibilities and opportunities that are available to them in their future undertakings. More than 120 students had a fun, one-day learning experience at the 80,000-square foot kid-sized city in Mutiara Damansara, which has been encouraging kids’ thirst for learning since 2012.

The kids, aged between 7 and 12, had a rolling good time, chaperoned by 30 volunteers from Malaysia Airports’ Skuad Ceria employee volunteerism programme.
With over 60 establishments offering more than 100 activities, KidZania presented the children with the opportunity to perform real-life jobs – firefighter, pilot, doctor, you name it – in a simulated, role-playing environment, inspiring them to be independent, appreciate the value of teamwork, develop skills and even financial literacy.
On top of that, these interactive experiences help boost their social skills and confidence as they make new friends! Confidence that will also give them the drive and determination to reach their full potential.
Education is the key to success, it can enrich lives and communities, improving quality of life. Allowing the students this chance to learn through play also provides a platform to instil the drive in the children to be curious on how education can open up a whole new world to them. Curiosity can create desire and aspirations, and once this spark is lit, the flames will burn stronger in allowing these students to pursue their dreams.

The ‘Joyful Experience at KidZania’ programme, which kickstarted in 2018, aims to inspire interest and curiosity, serving as a catalyst for underprivileged students to pursue their dreams.
