Motivating students to start the new school year with new school essentials
The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the way people live their lives, not only do office-goers now work from their homes, but it saw students also going into digital classrooms.
That is why, when the Malaysian government announced the new academic calendar for school sessions to begin on 21 March 2022, students from across the nation were excited to go back to school. To help the students start their new school year, Malaysia Airports provided 1,500 students with school essentials through its corporate responsibility (CR) initiative, MYAirportCARES Ceria Kembali Ke Sekolah.
The students consisting of those who were affected by the pandemic from Manjung, Perak, were given a care package with a total of RM22,500 that is inclusive of basic school needs such as school uniform, backpack, a pair of shoes, stationery, as well as a fabric mask to motivate them in their studies for the upcoming school year.
The goal of the ‘Ceria Kembali Ke Sekolah’ programme which started in 2018, is to give back to the community through providing back-to-school support, additional motivation and encouragement for the students to continue to seek knowledge whilst being focused at school with the aid of the new school equipment.
Malaysia Airports Chairman Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir said as the nation’s premier airport operator, Malaysia Airports cares about the welfare and wellbeing of its surrounding community, especially the education of students who will be leaders of tomorrow.
“With the nation moving towards its endemic phase, students are now able to attend school physically after going through the challenge of online learning for almost two years.
“We have benefited almost 3,500 students since this program was introduced in 2018,” he said in his speech before presenting the care packages to the students.
The Ceria Kembali Ke Sekolah is an annually organised CR initiative by Malaysia Airports along with Ceria Ramadhan and Ceria Aidilfitri, where children in need are provided with necessary supplies and donations.
