FIFA Fever With Qatar Airways

Although major sporting events are currently on hold at the moment, we can’t help to get excited for the ones scheduled for the future. For example, football fans are already looking forward to the recently announced Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup 2022^TM , set to be held in Qatar, from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

To get football fans excited, Qatar Airways recently unveiled a specially-branded Boeing 777 aircraft painted in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022^TM livery, marking the two year countdown until the tournament kicks off in November 2022. Meanwhile, Qatar Airway’s partnership with FIFA will see more of their aircraft painted with the branding to embark on several routes in the network.

For starters, the Boeing 777-300ER will enter service on 21 November operating flights QR095 and QR096 between Doha and Zurich. The inaugural route of the bespoke aircraft further reiterates the airline’s commitment to the FIFA partnership by flying to Switzerland, the home of FIFA on this significant date.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker said, “We are tremendously excited to celebrate our partnership with FIFA and Qatar’s status as host of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022^TM by introducing this unique aircraft to our fleet. FIFA Director of Marketing, Jean-François Pathy stated that the fleet launch is an important milestone and they are looking forward to welcoming fans from around the globe to experience this unique FIFA World Cup™ and also to discover Qatar in two years’ time.
