CONNECT AND REACT DAY encourages positive mind-sets among Malaysia Airports employees
The annual Connect and React (CR) Day, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event for employees of Malaysia Airports, was held on October 10, 2019 at the Malaysia Airports Corporate Office, aimed at connecting all employees towards the company’s CSR inspirations and motivating positive mind-sets among employees.
Themed ‘Creating A Joyful Sustainable Community Together’, the event inspired to encourage employees to be part of a sustainable community through the awareness of Malaysia Airports CSR activities and initiatives, which would ultimately inspire them to be more sustainable in their undertakings.

Malaysia Airports Group Chief Executive Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin explained that the objective of the event was to create awareness among employees and garner participation through the exposure and introduction of the company’s Corporate Responsibility’s three pillars: Education & Youth Leadership, Community Enrichment and Malaysian Branding.
“CR Day is also about nurturing strong team spirit and positive work culture, encouraging the sense of togetherness and unity,” he said.
Apart from connecting employees towards Malaysia Airports CSR inspirations, CR Day is also a platform for all divisions to inform and educate the audience on the services provided to them.
On top of that, some of the divisions also shared their own CSR contributions towards the community where they showcased these initiatives at their booths. For example, the MAHB Resources Centre took part by collecting books to be donated. This encouraged employees to be more active in doing their part towards the surrounding community.
Other participating booths include the Human Resources Division providing information on employee Zakat donation eligibility, the Airport Fire & Rescue Services (AFRS) showcased basic fire extinguisher usage and fire protection, the Guest Advocacy Division promoted the Amethyst App to facilitate the journey of personal development, Kesatuan Pekerja-Pekerja Malaysia Airports (KESMA) and Malaysia Airports Executive Association (MAESA) initiated registration drives, Persatuan Suri & Kakitangan Malaysia Airports (Aeronita) were on hand to sell appreciation gifts for employees to appreciate their peers, while the Sustainability Division promoted sustainable practices through the Sustainability Truck on-the-go, and awareness on Eco Bricks. Also on board during the event was a Blood Donation Drive by Pusat Darah Negara, and many more exciting booths.

For the first time this year a CSR Forum was also part of CR Day, a platform used to gather all four significant subjects to the 2019 Community-Friendly Organisation Framework (Education & Youth Leadership, Community Enrichment, Malaysia Branding and Sustainability). It enabled key players from different business functions to share their sustainable journey and impacts towards education, culture, community and sustainability. It enabled key players from different business functions within the community to share how Malaysia Airports’ CSR and sustainable journey had positively impacted the community.

Topics discussed included CSR Framework and its programmes; education and youth leadership; community enrichment; Malaysia branding (how Malaysia Airports as the gateways has promoted the Malaysian culture, heritage and local brands); and sustainability.
Panelists for the CSR forum were Norzalina Mason (General Manager Program Development & Management of PINTAR Foundations), Rajendran Kobalu (Principal Assistant Director, Ministry of Housing and Local Government), Jufitri Joha (Presiden Majlis Belia Malaysia) and Farah Elina (Senior Manager Sustainability of Malaysia Airports).
Another new addition was the Kloth Donation Box, a green initiative to keep fabric out of landfills by way of reducing, reusing, repurposing and recycling. Items that could be donated through the Kloth Care programme included garments, towels, carpets and soft toys, to name a few.
Volunteer and recycling programmes were also celebrated through award presentations, namely Top Volunteer Award and Top Recycler Award, which recognised the contributions of the dedicated ‘Skuad Ceria’ volunteers and specific units that constantly recycle their papers and other recyclable items.
