The Youngest Pilot to Fly Solo

The brave and adventurous Barrington Irvin became the youngest person to fly solo at the age of 23 back in 2007. As the only African American to have flown solo around the world in a single engine plane, Irving aspires to empower the new generation to become explorers of the world. Irving amazingly flew for 97 days and made a total of 26 stops throughout his adventure. His final touchdown was in Miami, United States in front of a roaring crowd!

Have you heard of the Pan American World Airways? Better known as Pan Am, they were the biggest international air carrier in the United States back in the 1920s. The airline promoted the use of jumbo jets and computerised reservation systems and became one of the founders of the International Air Transport Association. Unfortunately, Pan Am had to close down on 4 December 1991 due to a financial meltdown.
