Malaysia Airports supports The New Norm - Merdeka Art Exhibition organised for local artists affected by the pandemic.
The nation is on its way to a gradual recovery from the effects of the pandemic, which have affected us in ways we could never imagine. Taking into account that art is considered as a non-essential service, most of our local artists are struggling to stay afloat in the wake of the subsequent movement control order (MCO). The art exhibition aims to assist local and disabled artists regain their source of income by providing a platform for them to promote their artworks for sale.
Art Market Malaysia is hosting its first-ever New Norm - Merdeka Art Exhibition starting 15th August to 21st September 2020, from 12 pm until 10 pm daily. The event is currently being held at Event Space, Level 2 (near Monorail access), Quill City Mall and the pop-up store located at the retail shop lot. In conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day and Malaysia Day, the event is organised to help ease the burden of visual artists. The exhibition showcases the artists’ unique and creative artwork that highlight the rich heritage of Malaysia throughout the years.
The exhibition was officially launched on 27 August by the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri, with the endorsement of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and supported by Malaysia Airports as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). The event is also supported by non-governmental charity organisations Kelab Belia Perkasa dan Prihatin (KBPP) and Persatuan Kebajikan An-Najah Selangor (Annajah Community).
Currently, various local artists including disabled artists are participating in the art exhibition. On top
