Our selection of kids-free hotels for some down time and a quiet vacation away from children.
Occasionally, one wants a holiday where relaxation and serenity is the only order of the day — noise-free, disturbance-free, and perhaps even, child-free. Thus, the idea of an adults-only vacation has been gaining enough traction over recent years to be able to generate growth in this particular travel segment.
Whether you’re looking to simply spend time relaxing uninterrupted by the sights and sounds of other people’s children, or wanting some time off from your own — here are our selection of adult- only hotels located all over the globe, including Malaysia:
Chromata, Santorini, Greece
Perched atop a cliff overlooking Santorini’s famous caldera, Chromata is an upscale boutique hotel located in the relatively quieter neighbourhood of Imerovigli. Among the property’s offerings are a gorgeous infinity pool and rooms with private verandas overlooking the Aegean Sea. Part of Chromata’s attraction lies in its locality — Imerovigli is built on the highest point of the caldera cliffs, about 300 metres above sea level, earning it the moniker “the balcony to the Aegean”. While the village’s most notable attraction is the famous Skaros rock, which was home to one of the most important medieval Santorini fortresses before its destruction due to the 18th century volcanic eruptions — guests can reach Firá, the capital of Santorini Island via a 20-minute walk. The property’s amenities include express check-in and check-out, and dry cleaning/laundry services. A roundtrip airport shuttle upon request is provided for a surcharge. Open seasonally from October to April, Chromata bans children ages 13 and below on the property for safety reasons due to its cliffside location.
Cap Rocat, Mallorca, Spain
Located in a secluded area of the Bay of Palma and set in the middle of a nature reserve and bird sanctuary, this property is only 15 minutes away from the Palma de Mallorca airport, and takes an additional 10 minutes to reach from the city centre of Palma. Cap Rocat was formerly an under- utilised 19th-century fortress built on a Mallorca cliffside — until it was turned into a 5-star hotel by architect Antonio Obrador. The property’s many features such as drawbridges, bunkers and excavated weapon vaults were either preserved or repurposed. The 88-acre property offers only 24 suites and 22 rooms, with direct access to a private beachfront and amenities such as a spa - free for guests (plus a hammam at extra cost) - outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a fitness centre and a designated sun terrace. Due to the architectural features of this property, children under the age of 15 are barred for safety reasons.
Riad L'Hôtel Marrakech, Marrakech, Morocco

Apart from accommodating individual stays, the property also caters to groups or families looking to rent the entire riad for a short period due to its relatively small size. Meanwhile, the intricately beautiful Bahia Palace is only 2 kilometres away from the property. On-site services include ironing and dry-cleaning services, airport shuttle, as well as desert excursions and guided tours upon request at an additional fee.
