Garuda Indonesia is voted WORLD’S BEST CABIN CREW 2018 by air travellers for the fifth consecutive year
You can hardly contain your excitement as you board the plane – after months of planning and anticipation – and ready to begin that journey across the seas for that therapeutic holiday. And the people who have the power to enhance that experience are those smiley faces that greet you as you enter the aircraft – the cabin crew.
Always immaculately attired, not a hair out of place, with an endless supply of smiles and patience (we all know how exasperatingly difficult some passengers can be!) these men and women are responsible for the comfort, safety and welfare of passengers travelling on aircrafts during both short- and long-haul flights.
Along with showing passengers to their seats and providing special attention to senior citizens or the disabled, their duties include serving meals and refreshments as well as demonstrating emergency equipment and safety procedures.
And for some unforeseen reason should the plane make an emergency landing on some remote, god-forsaken island, the crew is well-equipped with survival skills such as finding drinking water, creating a shelter, gathering food – even attracting help in any type of setting including the deserts and the Arctic.
And if the eager baby insists on popping out into the world mid-flight, fret not. The crew is also trained in how to safely deliver babies until the emergency services can take over on the ground.
These commendable traits and skills of the cabin crew do not go unappreciated – in fact the Skytrax World Airline Awards honours the best in the business each year, and Garuda Indonesia scores a remarkable achievement being named the World's Best Cabin Crew 2018 by air travellers for the fifth consecutive year. (Travellers across the globe take part each year in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the winners.)

About The World Airline Awards
The World Airline Awards began in 1999, when Skytrax launched its first global, annual airline customer satisfaction survey. In 2000, the survey attracted a worldwide completion of 2.2 million entries, with the latest 2017-2018 survey achieving 20.36 million completed, eligible entries.
The mandate for the Skytrax survey from the outset was to deliver a survey and airline awards process that is independent, impartial and global.
There are no survey entry fees, no payment to attend the awards event, and no charges for any use of the award logos and results by winning airlines.
